Information On Post-Lasik Eye Drops

Anti-inflammatory and Antibiotic Drops

After Lasik Surgery, the two main drops that are used are a steroid and an antibiotic for 5-7 days for the average Lasik patient. The steroid is used as an anti-inflammatory to reduce ocular irritation and prevent haze (mild opacity in the cornea). The antibiotic is used to prevent infection during the initial healing period. The steroid and antibiotic eye drops are typically used four times a day for 5-7 days, but that schedule may vary on a case by case basis. Another drop that is very commonly used in Lasik surgery is a drop called Restasis. Restasis is an immuno-modulator, which helps to create a better tear layer immediately after surgery and can help to prevent regression, or the over healing of the cornea which can lead to needing additional Lasik surgery.
